  • descriptive statistics and the correct visualisation of data
  • confidence intervals
  • testing of hypotheses 
  • developping a questionnaire and interpreting results of a questionnaire
  • short introduction to design of studies

Regular students:

  • Theory will be offered through online videos. 
  • On-campus sessions in which questions and excercises will be discussed.
  • One on-campus practical sessions in which the students will have to work with SPSS.
  • One assignment

Distance education:

  • monitored self study. Bachelor Degree students via Distance Education do not attend the on-campus sessions, but will receive the study material and will be in contact with their fellow students (distance learning platforms). Students counselling sessions during the semester will allow you to ask questions about the theory.

Regular students

  • project (5/20): for a given problem setting students have to collect data and analyse the data in the correct way. Students have to work on this assignment in team (with 2 or 3 students per team). If it turns out that a student did not actively participate at his/her group assignment, the points of this assignment can be adjusted.
  • open book exam (15/20): all course material (except from bundle with excercises and their solutions) can be used.The exam will take place in November, outside the normal exam period of January.
  • If a grade of 7/20 or less is obtained on the exam or an the project, the result of the OPO is reduced to the result of the component with the lowest grade, in accordance with the training and examination regulations. 

Distance education:

  • project and exam: same as for regular students
  • distance students may choose to work on the project in team or alone

Exam and project. For the project the student has the choice to retain the initial points or to individually rewrite the project.
