Content
The course covers the following items:
- General introduction on the importance of aquaculture in Flanders and the world
- Specific sub-aspects of aquaculture
- Fish biology
- Fish feed, growth and feed efficiency
- Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS)
- Cultivation of crustaceans, shellfish and algae
- Reproduction in fish
- Larval culture, reproduction and larval nutrition
- Aquaponics
- Health and health management
- Welfare

Video recordings of each lecture (via Kaltura) will be provided throughout the course via Toledo.
A PowerPoint of each lecture will be available on Toledo.

Course is taught in Dutch. A guest teacher (or webinar) can give further explanation in English or French.
Format: more information
CAM and HAO: guided self-study. Video recordings of each lesson will be made available in two blocks. At the start and after each block there will be an consultation moment (more information about the practical organisation on Toledo). Students process the study material on an independent basis via the video recordings.

The final grade for this course is achieved on the written exam. Correction for guessing is used in the multiple choice questions.
Distance Learning: The exam is normally planned on weekday evenings.
